The Research Center Carmen Sylva of the Princely Archive of Wied in Neuwied is a new initiative under the patronage of H.H. Prince Carl of Wied, created to promote the interdisciplinary scientific activity about Elisabeth of Wied, the first Queen of Romania and writer Carmen Sylva (1843-1916), and aiming to encourage cultural and educational partnerships and to raise the public awareness about the life, works and activity of Carmen Sylva in the intercultural context of her times.
The coordinator of the Research Center is dr. Silvia Irina Zimmermann, who initiated the centre together with the director of the Princely Archive of Wied, dr. Hans-Jürgen Krüger. Dr. Zimmermann studied at the universities of Sibiu and Marburg, she has a PhD in german literature with a thesis about the literary works of Carmen Sylva and is author and editor of several books about the queen poet.

An interdisciplinary Scientific Advisory Board helps the Research Center Carmen Sylva in all important fields of its activity and offers support for communicating with a larger public.
